Description
Using Amiri Baraka's quotation "Hunting is not those heads on the wall", students use a Padlet to collaboratively brainstorm what hunting actually is--what steps are involved in getting those heads on the wall--before completing a station rotation to learn about the writing process. After learning about writing as a recursive process, students go back to their collaborative brainstorming and match up the steps of hunting with those in the writing process before evaluating hunting as an analogy for the writing process. After evaluating hunting as an analogy for the writing process, students create their own analogy for the writing process and share it with their classmates for peer evaluation. An extension activity is also available for students to use the writing process to develop an argument why their analogy should be used for the writing process instead of hunting.
